
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Taylor graduated from the Art Institute of California – San Francisco with a Bachelors of Science in Visual and Game Programming with a specialisation in narrow artificial intelligence.
Taylor forged his career with the LeapPad, FarmVille, Mafia Wars and Zynga Poker before moving to New Zealand. After working across 4 departments (animation, layout, motion capture and previs) for roughly 20 films at Weta, while also creating interactive installations, music videos and short films at his own studio.
After consulting for a number promising tech companies, he co-founded of ProjectR, a shared working space for emerging tech startups and Mixt Studios which develops immersive and interactive content for NZ Government and Heineken amongst others. Then pivoting to the education sector, writing the diploma strategy for Game Art and Development for ACG Education, as well as 5 years as a lecturer and academic in visual effects and animation at Massey University.
Now he’s back in film, the latest being Dune Part 2 and Furiosa.
